Artisans of time

I watched a film called The Soloist. I thought it a bit slow at fist but enjoyed it towards the end.
When I think of the most brilliant minds in History, they were all labeled as strange or odd or mad or crazy by the society in which they lived in. From musicians to mathematicians, to poets and philosophers. Many were rejected by society but their brilliance changed the way people operated or thought and they are still making an impact today. People like Bill Gates, Van Gogh, Beethovan, Ivan Newton, Socrates, Charles Darwin, Andy Warhol, Yeats, Jesus etc etc
It’s almost like you have to be a bit “crazy” or “abnormal” to touch those few great things that effect mankind. It’s like “madness” releases an eternal gift

Be who you are. If it’s strange and people do not understand, then that’s normal, as long as it’s directed to excellence.
The true masters and artisans of history were totally consumed with their one gift and that’s the only road they followed

the destination vs the journey

is it a male female thing? taking an extreme view...

Woman care more or are more concerned about the journey? E.g. if girls go on a night out together, getting ready together, accessorising is as much of an event as getting there. A successful night is the dancing and being silly with friends, the destination is feeling closer to each other .

Men care more or are more concerned about the destination? E.g. guys day out... lets write down a list of all the sights and go see as many as we can. A successful day is dependant on how many places we go to, or how many things we do

Woman are more concerned about the journey and men are more concerned with the destination?

process vs result. They are mutually inclusive but men and woman are polarised towards different points. This could probably be generalised even to sex. More times than not, woman care more about the process and men care more about the result. The process and the result both exist, you cant have one without the other.
If one works from the process point then the process determines the quality of the result.
If one works from the result point of view then the intended result determines the process.

Perhaps this could be further simplified as big vs small. Is it the small things that matter or is it the big things that matter.

They both matter so they both need to be involved so what's the point? I guess it depends on who you're speaking to. If I want a guy to be as excited or if I want them to recognise something as important then, I'd have to communicate with them from a result point of view e.g. when we xyz it's going to be great. And for woman, I'd appeal to the process point of view e.g. on the way there we can stop and enjoy the moment

Destiny vs character
character determines destiny
The preconceived destiny determines character

Thats the story of love

You've got to give a little, take a little,
and let your poor heart break a little.
That's the story of, that's the glory of love.

You've got to laugh a little, cry a little,
until the clouds roll by a little.
That's the story of, that's the glory of love.

As long as there's the two of us,
we've got the world and all it's charms.
And when the world is through with us,
we've got each other's arms.

You've got to win a little, lose a little,
yes, and always have the blues a little.
That's the story of, that's the glory of love.
That's the story of, that's the glory of love.

Listening is an Art

Do I listen more than I speak?
Do I advise more than I ask for advise?
Do I communicate that I understand more than assume that I understand?

"...spoken once and twice have I herd it"
Listening twice because of the two eares ;) The first time spoken is to hear, the second time herd is to understand.

There are millions of pounds spent every hour just to be herd and understood and the number is increasing every month. The psychologist/therapist etc spends 8yrs learning to understand and then spends the rest of their years listening.

It could be said that everyone wants to be understood. (I wonder if it's more true for woman). If person Y feels understood by person X, then Y will hold X in high regard, perhaps X will be the first person they look to sharing the good, the bad and the ugly etc.
It could also be said that said that everyone wants to be loved and therefore to be loved is to be understood. If one feels or perceives to be understood, then they feel or are perceived to be loved. The revers is true. When one feels misunderstood, they feel rejected and therefor dont feel unloved.

The environment of love or understanding breeds freedom and life but the opposite breeds death. Imaging life is like travelling to a foreign and distant land. You may feel that there are strangers all around. As a result, you may keep silent as no one understands the language you speak. And eventually you stop looking to make friends and end up hiding in the things that understand you e.g. music, old pictures, books, places (like the mountain top or by th stream in the valley). And one day, you hear a voice that understands you. You would get excited, jump up and it would feel like a fire just just been ignited...alive once again

the paradox of time

A Message by George Carlin:
The paradox of our time in history is that we have taller buildings but shorter tempers, wider Freeways but narrower viewpoints.
We spend more, but have less, we buy more, but enjoy less.
We have bigger houses and smaller families, more conveniences, but less time.
We have more degrees but less sense, more knowledge, but less judgment, more experts, yet more problems, more medicine, but less wellness.
We drink too much, smoke too much, spend too recklessly, laugh too little, drive too fast, get too angry, stay up too late, get up too tired, read too little, watch TV too much, and pray too seldom.

We have multiplied our possessions, but reduced our values.
We talk too much, love too seldom, and hate too often.
We've learned how to make a living, but not a life.
We've added years to life not life to years.
We've been all the way to the moon and back, but have trouble crossing the street to meet a new neighbour.
We conquered outer space but not inner space.
We've done larger things, but not better things
We've cleaned up the air, but polluted the soul.
We've conquered the atom, but not our prejudice.
We write more, but learn less. We plan more, but accomplish less.
We've learned to rush, but not to wait.
We build more computers to hold more information, to produce more copies than ever, but we communicate less and less.

These are the times of fast foods and slow digestion, big men and small character, steep profits and shallow relationships.
These are the days of two incomes but more divorce, fancier houses, but broken homes.
These are days of quick trips, disposable diapers, throwaway morality, one night stands, overweight bodies, and pills that do everything from cheer, to quiet, to kill. It is a time when there is much in the showroom window and nothing in the stockroom. A time when technology can bring this letter to you

Remember; spend some time with your loved ones, because they are not going to be around forever.
Remember, say a kind word to someone who looks up to you in awe, because that little person soon will grow up and leave your side.

Remember, to give a warm hug to the one next to you, because that is the only treasure you can give with your heart and it doesn't cost a cent.
Remember, to say, 'I love you' to your partner and your loved ones, but most of all mean it. A kiss and an embrace will mend hurt when it comes from deep inside of you.
Remember to hold hands and cherish the moment for someday that person will not be there again.
Give time to love, give time to speak! And give time to share the precious thoughts in your mind.

AND ALWAYS REMEMBER: Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away

Observations...

It is interesting to read that Woman was created to be a helpmate but after the fall not only did her name change but a few things happened. (Gen3:16)
1. She will bear children with intense pain and suffering
2. Her desire will be for her husband
3. Her husband will be master over her

It is also interesting to ask the question... were these three things the curse of the fall?

So after the fall, the natural state of She was the desire to please her husband 1Cor7:34. )But a married woman is concerned about the affairs of this world—how she can please her husband. -wanting to please your spouse)

You see it all the time, when She rushes home to see him. She makes sure that there is food that he likes (she might even stop cooking her favourites), and through the relationship, he communicates what he likes and she remembers it, he becomes a sports fan and she follows suit, etc etc Her day to day life involves taking note of his desires. (I imagine that every woman agrees to this)

And then, looking at point no.3, he became master over her. Eph5:22 Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord. But even before the fall he, was the head or the leader, given the word to take care of the ground etc and she was to help him.
It's important to note that to help someone is to look and see what they need, put all the things you want to do aside and concentrate your energies at the "help". It's interesting that Adam didnt necessarily know that he needed help but it wasnt good for him to be alone, he needed help.

Side note... If you tell someone to do something it means that they are not doing it. If they are not doing it, it is possible that it is not their nature to do so. Therefore they have to constantly remind themselves?
For example, Woman are told several times to be submissive and men are told several times to love her. The language of She is LOVE and the language of Him is HONOUR. My guess is that subconsciously, woman give love over and over again in order to receive love and men give honour over and over again in order to receive honour.
Naturally we give what we want to get back
